NFL Season Preview - Prognostication Time!

Over the past week here, we have had previews about various aspects of the NFL. It is time for the most important thing - predictions! Ryan and I are both throwing in our predictions about how teams will finish, and how the playoffs will go down.  You will probably consider both us to be completely nuts.  Anyway, thanks for reading the NFL Preview here at Lattanzi Land, and tomorrow we will start with the first game prediction and preview.  Special thanks to Ryan and Nick for writing previews for us. And, as always, your comments are welcome!  Follow the link immediately below to continue reading after the jump  - J.L.

NFC Seeds (Ryan/Josh)

1. Packers/Eagles
2. Eagles/Packers
3. Saints/Saints
4. Rams/Rams
5. Falcons/Giants
6. Lions/Vikings

Wild Card Round

Ryan: Saints defeat Lions and Falcons defeat Rams
Josh: Saints defeat Vikings and Giants defeat Rams

Divisional Round

Ryan's Picks

Packers defeat Falcons - A rematch of last year’s divisional matchup in which the Packers dominated the Falcons in every aspect of the game. I think this year’s will be a bit closer, but in the end will have the same result in the Packers moving on to the NFC Championship game.

Eagles defeat Saints - Two explosive offenses going against each other in what will be a classic matchup. The Eagles seem to have a better secondary, while the Saints will look to stop the Eagles running game. I feel this game will be close, but the Eagles will pull it out in the end to move on to Green Bay for the NFC Championship game.

Josh's Picks

Eagles defeat Giants - this has become sort of the big playoff rivalry in the NFC nowadays as they meet for the third time this season. After splitting the first two games, the Eagles have Eli Manning’s number and the Giants get no running game going and Michael Vick is able to pick the Giants’ defense apart.

Saints defeat Packers - the upset of the playoffs; a true offensive shootout that has the Saints winning because they had the ball last. I sense a classic that will have fans everywhere on the edge of their seats.

NFC Championship Game

Ryan: Eagles defeat Packers - If you though I wasn't going to pick the Eagles, you’r e crazy. The Eagles have the secondary to match Green Bay’s receivers and will be good enough to stop the run. In a close one, the Eagles will move on to the Super Bowl.

JoshEagles defeat Saints - after only successful time winning the NFC title in 5 tries, the Eagles raise their batting average in this game to a respectable .333 in the Andy Reid era. The Saints could win in Lambeau, but lightning won’t strike twice as they can’t duplicate their passing attack in Philadelphia.

AFC Seeds (Ryan/Josh)

1. Steelers/Jets
2. Patriots/Ravens
3. Chargers/Texans
4. Texans/Chargers
5. Ravens/Patriots
6. Jets/Steelers

Wild Card Round

Ryan: Chargers defeat Jets and Texans defeat Ravens
Josh: Steelers defeat Texans and Patriots defeat Chargers

Divisional Round

Ryan's Picks

Steelers defeat Texans - Steelers are going to win this game because of their defense. They will shut down the Texans offense with their aggressive defense and Roethelisberger will be his usual playoff self and lead the Steelers to the AFC Championship game.

Chargers defeat Patriots - The Patriots will continue the streak of losing in the playoffs. The Chargers are one of the most talented teams in the NFL and Phillip Rivers will outduel Tom Brady to move on.

Josh's Picks

Jets defeat Steelers - the Steelers will have snuck into the playoffs as it is, and will have been lucky to win a game over a team (Texans) that were just happy to be there. The Jets will have finished the season strongly and will be rested and will beat up the Steelers mercilessly all game.

Patriots defeat Ravens - Joe Flacco will start getting the reputation of being a choker, thanks to a New England defensive game plan that will make him look silly. Tom Brady will be back at his apex as a QB, and it’s hard to see who will stop them.

AFC Championship Game

RyanChargers defeat Steelers - This is the year the Chargers finally make it to the Super Bowl. Norv Turner will finally not blow his chance at making a Super Bowl. The Steelers will have a great game, but Phillip Rivers will out-duel him in this game and lead them to the Super Bowl.

Josh: Patriots defeat Jets - this one will be uggggggly. The pregame chatter will be intense and the invective will be second to none. However, the Patriots will let their actions speak louder and embarrass the Jets in their own building and thus take vengeance for what happened last season in Foxboro.

Super Bowl XLV

RyanEagles defeat Chargers - Eagles win the Super Bowl behind Michael Vick and the offense coming up big with the defense stopping Phillip Rivers from dominating the game. The Eagles will win their first Super Bowl in franchise history and Andy Reid will finally win his that he deserves.

JoshEagles defeat Patriots - the rematch of Super Bowl 39 (ok, not really) will involve some excitement, but the fourth quarter will become the Michael Vick and Co. Show as the Eagles pull away. The Patriots will put up a valiant effort, but it won’t be enough as the Eagle secondary shuts down the passing attack of New England while the front line gets pressure on Tom Brady.
