NBC's "Accident"

NBC says it was 'accidental' that the words 'under God' (and 'indivisible', for that matter) were not placed in the montage during their U.S. Open coverage.

Right.  Fredo Corleone 'accidentally'...'drowned', too.  I also have a bridge I would like to sell you.

I agree. Omitting "indivisible" is a tacit endorsement of Rick Perry's stated goal of Texas seceding from the United States, undermining the very nation to which the Pledge of Allegiance is made. Why are people upset about the Jesus part, but not about the union part? True patriots could give a damn about whether we note in our pledge the existence of a magical being beyond our perception, but they are weary of the anti-union sentiment, particularly when one of its leading proponents is threatening to run for President of the United States.

Leery, not weary. And I should amend, from "Rick Perry's stated goal" to "Rick Perry's threat."

It would be ironic that NBC would tacitly (and unwittingly) endorse a Rick Perry threat. I was just more commenting on their BS excuse that it was merely accidental. Please. It's been part of the pledge for almost 60 years now. I wonder how many of the execs at NBC Sports are even that old.

And I let through your comments from below and replied.

I saw that, thanks. And kudos to you for actually recognizing (or at least publicly including) the omission of "indivisible" in your post. After reading several fussing articles/blog entries about the episode, I was pleasantly surprised to find you include it.

I aim to please!

The 'under God' part stood out to me the most, but I was a bit perturbed that 'indivisible' was missing also, because the whole clause as it is in the Pledge currently doesn't make a lot of sense if it's missing words. They would have been better off just not doing the pledge at all.
